breaking of propeller shaft

enroute from Limassol to pissouri, cyprus,  a motor yacht lost one of its two propellers. the owners contracted AQUATEC - INNERSPACE OPERATIONS LTD. FOR THE RECOVERY.

the captain of the yacht tracked back the route and timing BY gps and gave a position were the propeller was lost.

the under water search

took two days. a bottom marker was placed at the gps position and after two dives of circle search a fluke was discovered about 150 meters from given position.

recovery

the propeller of 1 meter diameter was stuck in the muddy sea bottom. only one fluke was visible. two liftbags were attached and the propeller slowly freed from the mud.

together with the propeller a free ascend from -40 meters with decompression stops was undertaken. the dive equipment used was a rebreather.
