History and Modification

M/V OCEAN STAR

The Ocean Star was built in Patterson, Louisiana by Gulf Craft Inc. in 1981.  She was fabricated mostly out of aluminum.  Her construction was according to ABS (American Bureau of Shipping ) standards.  She was Coast Guard certified for operating up to 200 miles offshore with 29 passengers and multi tons of cargo.  Her original employment was to be utilized as a supply ship in the off shore oil industry.  During the first 10 years of her service life, she operated as a deliver, support, and standby as necessary ship for the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.  After which she was returned to Gulf Craft, Inc. where she was overhauled, re-certified, and prepared for sale.

In 1991 Deep Six Salvors Inc. acquired the motor vessel Ocean Star.  Work immediately commenced on the many essential and mandatory modifications that were necessary for producing a safe and productive dive boat/salvage ship.  The six foot blower tubes (deflector, mailboxes) were constructed by J.P. Downes, Co. in Ft Lauderdale, Fl.  The installation of these massive propeller deflectors onto the vessel working end was accomplished at Gulf Marine Ways, in Fort Meyers Beach, Fl.  During this same time period, the deck was re-configured for the installation of a nine ton Hiab knuckle crane and a pair of double headed stern winches.  New colors were included for the spring of 1994 when the Ocean Star was repainted from top to bottom.

In 1995, the wheel house was completely renovated to a more modern helm.  Included were the installations of an auto pilot, a DGPS navigational sensors, and the latest computer generated mapping marine system with a CD ROM sea chart data base.  All these components plus a 15" PC color monitor were built into the new helm console for easy use and displaying the present and planned work areas.  Cellular phone service was interfaced to the computer to make use for the internet service and facsimiles.

The husband and wife team of Wally and Michelle Williams are the sole owners of deep six salvors Inc.  deep six is the parent company that owns and operates the motor vessel Ocean Star.  Mr. and Mrs. Williams have both successfully passed all the required tests to obtain the necessary licenses to captain and/or individually operate the M/V Ocean Star.  Long operating hours can easily be accomplished and are a common occurrence.  all operations to date have always run smoothly with safety first at the top of the priority list.  accordingly, no problems, incidence's, or accidents have ever transpired.  Wally and Michelle also, proudly come from the aerospace industry.  Thus, they have gladly carried forward a regimented preventative maintenance schedule program that has always kept their vessel in top notch operating condition.  Upgrading for safety, ease of operations and the enhancements of performance is a natural, run of the mill, event.
