INITIATION

beginning of the year 2003 a historian specialist informed aquatec - innerspace operations LTD. that he found evidence of a crashed wwii fighter plane close to the  shores of cyprus.

EVIDENCE

during a meeting original archive files (logs) in hand written form were presented to aquatec, which proved authenticity and details about the incident.

the beaufighter plane was on a return flight from a mission when the craft run out of fuel. after crashing into the sea only one of two crewmembers survived and could be rescued.

RESEARCH

initial visual topside area evaluation included also intensive interviews with FISHERMEN AND ELDERLY locals living near the site to find out ABOUT possible eyewitnesses or other information.

SITE

1ST AREA CHECK IN WINTER TOPSIDE AREA NAVIGATION WITH GPS SEARCH FOR SITE ENTRY

the shore line of the crash site in question is partly sandy and very rocky. due to bad winter weather it took some time until the 1st underwater research could be launched.

DIVES

AT THE DIVE SITE SETTING A SEARCH STAKE SEARCH STAKE WITH REEL LINE

a team of aquatec divers started with explorations involving partial circle search techniques, made necessary to adapt to hydro-geological features. during the search the covered area was marked with special built stakes in order to ease navigation and not to miss any fields. distances were measured by set reel lines and visual contact between the search divers.

initial search did not reveal any findings and the search area was further extended into deeper waters.

future dive operations will include towed magnetometer search.
