as planned, on the 29.04.2004 was the 1st major press conference on board the mv "eas" with all local and several international media attending.

WITHIN THE PROJECT A SPECIALISED MEDIA TEAM HAS BEEN FORMED which was on location during the expedition.

deep sea search

was about 45 nautical miles from the nearest land south east of Cyprus and at a water depth of -1500 meters.

it involved sophisticated electronic image systems like side scan sonar which was towed 20 meters above the seafloor with a data cable of 4800 meters connected to the towing research vessel "flying enterprise".

final and outlook

the 2004 expedition was successful.

post-processing of the collected data (see photo album: maps) is under way but will take several weeks.

the next expedition for 2005 is in preparation.
